FAQ

1. How much was the surgery

It was 3500 euros in august 2022.

2. Was there a deposit fee and how did you pay?

There was no deposit fee. Proof of flight ticket was used to reserve a surgery date.
I paid cash as was requested. I did get a receipt. My country allows you to travel with 10000 euros before you need to pay any tax on it

3. Why did you choose Hasan Emre Koçak?

I chose him because he had a lot of good reviews and a person I know had gone to him and was very happy and had really natural results. Also because I knew my case was complicated I felt like there was more chances of success by going to someone who did open nose surgery instead of a closed one.

4. What is the difference between open and closed nose surgery?

In open rhinoplasty, the surgeon cuts the sides of the nasal fins, the lower area of the bridge, and inside the nostrils to lift the nasal skin and apply the necessary changes thoroughly. But, in closed rhinoplasty, the surgeon does not lift the nasal skin and only makes two incisions in the inner area of the nostrils.

Open has the advantages that the surgeon has more access to different parts of the nose, placing grafts and protheses is easier and it is more suitable for complicated surgeries (ex. crooked noses, deformed nasal tips, revisions etc.).

Junior suit for 2 people with breakfast and dinner was 130 euros per night in August 2022.

6. How much did the flights cost?

3000dkk per person both ways (403euros, 394usd, 351gbp)

7. Did you need a COVID test before the flight or operation?

Originally when I bought the flight tickets in February 2022 yes. But in august 2022 the restrictions had been taken away so no need for any COVID test or to show Vaccination papers.

8. How long did you have to stay in Turkey?

My doctor recommended 8 days. I ordered 14 days so I had a bit of a buffer time in case the flight was delayed and a few days at the end to shop. I ended up having the cast on for 8 days also.

9. How long until you were back on your feet after the operation?

I was feeling pretty weak the first days but on day 4 things changed a lot, swelling started to go down and I got more energy and then was able to go out and shop for an hour or two. Got better very quickly from that and at day 7 I was fully going everywhere without getting tired quickly.

10. Did the hospital staff speak English?

No, the general hospital staff did not speak English. But my surgeons staff spoke English well.
I recommend getting the Google Translate app, go to settings and download Turkish, that way you can use the translator offline in case you have problems connecting to the hospital wifi.

11. What do you recommend taking with you to the hospital?

Comfortable clothing that is easy to put on and take off with plenty of space for the head. Travel pillow. Something to make time pass faster such as phone with downloaded movies + long charger cord/power bank or a book. Extra water in bottles. Warm socks since you will be cold after being in a cold operating room.

12. Can I pay with euros everywhere in Turkey?

In bigger stores yes and your hotel & car services but most places just want Turkish Liras so you need to get some and you should also always tip in Turkish Liras.
There are exchange places but you can also withdraw from atm's.
I recommend Ziraat Bankasi atm's, they didn't have a hefty fee from withdrawing as long as you chose not to use the dynamic currency option. Some atm's charge a 10% fee or more. (Pro tip, to choose English as a language in the atm, you need to insert your card first to see the option appear in the corner).
